One of our most important requirements when finding a new home is a sense of safety. While it is helpful to hear other people’s recommendations, it’s a lot more telling if you look at crime statistics by neighborhood. I’ve collected the stats from official sources to determine the safest areas in Las Vegas to live.
General Crime Statistics for the Area
It can be difficult to find consolidated crime statistics for free. I’ll start with the most reputable source for city wide crime data: the FBI. These statistics are for the 2012 calendar year.

First Impressions
I pulled all the “per 100,000” stats together for each area into this graph for some quick analysis.
It’s pretty apparent from this graph (and confirmed by my drive around the neighborhood) that Henderson is a safer choice. But these areas are very large and these statistics overlook places that are commonly known as some of the safest areas in Las Vegas to live (like Summerlin or Green Valley Ranch).
Statistics by Neighborhood
In an effort to drill down these crime statistics to discover the safest areas in Las Vegas to live, I found this site Crime Mapping that gives a visual representation of where each incident of crime occurred in the city.
They draw statistics from the Las Vegas police webpage and thumbtack it to the map. The statistics are limited as they only include a rolling 180 history of crimes, their site says that if you need earlier data you need to contact the public information officer at the police department. It’s a decent way to see the safest neighborhoods in Las Vegas at a glance.
That’s not an option for me; even if I did procure older data, I’d still have to find a way to map it all out systematically. So I’ll opt for the smaller sample size.
It’s important to note that Henderson does not subscribe to the Crime Mapping services, so there was no data for it. They have their own database, but it’s a bit messy and not a great tool for statistical analysis.
These statistics are for the period between August 1, 2014 and September 30, 2014.
The following crimes have 0 reported incidents, which most likely means the case is still open or under investigation:
Arson, Drugs/Alcohol Violations, DUI, Fraud and Vehicle Break-in/Theft
Counts are approximate.

The Top 3 Safest Areas in Las Vegas to Live Are…
Based upon the statistics I gathered, Summerlin, Southwest and Henderson are the safest places in Vegas. Forbes agreed and voted Henderson as the 2nd safest city in the US for 2011.
Summerlin racked up a few of the lowest rates of crime, but Southwest rated #1 in a lot more of the categories. Henderson had lower crime stats across for the board.
What do you think is the safest area in Las Vegas?
Elma Walker says
Moving to the Mountain View Area of Southwest Las Vegas, I would like to know if this is a safe area.
Edyta says
it is very safe i live about 10 min from that area ,also is very new and beautiful
Danielle says
R there any areas like that that r semi cheap?? We need to move there for work but have child want SAFE but inexpensive can’t afford much n apartments

Tyrone says
South East, anywhere off the 215 and Eastern. I live off Eastern and Richmar, very nice affordable are with every possible store you can think of and T-Birds 24hr bar incase you fancy some affordable food and drink in the late hours of the night.
P’s. Only 8mins to the airport and the strip and believe it or not where I live is not in the flight path.
Love it down here compared to boring Summerlin.
Take my advice I’ve lived in different parts of Vegas and this is the right area!
Lorinda Lee says
Tyrone, you live in Silverado Ranch. I love this area – been here for 12 years, live alone and have never had a problem. I moved here from Sprng Valley because of the crime there. And I agree with you about Summerlin – WAYYYY overrated.
James says
I live in Silverado Ranch Las Vegas not very expensive and never had any problems here
Danielle says
Nice so can u maybe give me advice on apartments please I need safe but affordable cant afford more than maybe 850 if that please
J says
Not so sure “safest area” and “spot where a gal can get a drink anytime” are equals, Tyrone, but to each their own. Myself, I have been very happy with the southwest side of town. Lowest crime rates in the valley, and its the only area that doesn’t have a ghetto. Which can suck if your looking for a good carniceria or laundermat. Other than that…Cheers!
Willie says
Which part of Southwest are you referring to? I just purchased a condo in a gated community 5200 West Tropicana area
Dallas says
We’re anticipating a move to Las Vegas within the next year. We’d like at least close to an acre or more land and we want either an attached or detached 3 car garage, possibly a work shop. Obviously we want to be in a low crime, safe area. We have heard that the north east Las Vegas is not a good area. We have seen some lovely homes in north and north west Vegas, but now I’m reading that there is significant crime there. It looks like everyone is saying that Henderson is the safest place to live, but I see nothing with land, at least that I saw when I put a max of $400,000 on my search.
Crystal says
I live in Silverado Ranch now and moved from Henderson (Paradise Hills) and it’s nice/quiet out there and you will find land for sure…perhaps it’s going to cost you more than 4K but it’s definitely out there. There’s a lot of people with horses/stables and all that good stuff…I’m sure there are other places you may even checked out in Centennial area which is very nice too. Best of luck
Lorinda Lee says
Do you mean Mountain’s Edge? They had a rash of home invasions last year.
R.B. says
Very safe!
Theresa Phillips says
I am planning on moving to Vegas myself this year and what I did was call the las Vegas Police. If you go onto their site and click “crime stopper”, you can put in the address and it will show what crime if any has happened in that area.
VivaLasVegas says
Henderson! YEAH! 🙂 Great to hear it!
Lanette says
Is Henderson a good neighborhood?
Crystal says
Henderson Is very safe place and has been within the top three cities in the US several years…May have something to do with the number of police officers that live in Henderson…I had two and a firefighter on my cul-de-sac of 10 houses.
Theresa L Phillips says
That could be true, my real estate broker is a retired cop.
Willie says
I’m buying property at 5155 West Tropicana 89103. How safe is that area and is the property value increasing?
ERIN says
NOT A GOOD AREA. A LOT OF BUMS AND HOOKERS TOO.
Willie says
Hoes got to eat. I moved to 5155 W Tropicana and i walked around, day and night and i enjoyed the area. I drove to Henderson and Summerlin and walked around. A lot of SNOBBISH people walking around the Mall areas. Thanks for the info
Crystal says
That was my only concern with Henderson. Even this white girl needs more diversity lol
Paul Parker says
I’m moving from 89081 to 89103. It gets me closer to the things I want to be close to.
VSAloha808 says
Hi Paul Parker, 89103 is the Spring Valley area based on this map I downloaded from Google, how is the rentals in that area if you don’t mind me asking?
Willie says
Good morning VSAloha808, i purchased a property in a nice gated Community in 89103 and there are Very nice Rentals going between $700 and $900 for 1 bed and bath to 2 bed and 2baths with balcony, swimming pool, sauna, work out room and parking spaces as well as not being far from stores and Restaurants that can be in walking distance. Low to no crime.
Danielle says

I’m moving to Las Vegas this year I’m from California what city should I move to and who knows a good day care also school
VSAloha says
I want to move to Las Vegas from Hawaii. Any suggestions where should we look to rent a place that is safe and affordable especially when I will need to find a job in IT.
Lanette says
Did you get a answer to your move question? Could you please send the referral to me for my move.
VSAloha says
No, I did not but I read that Henderson is a good place. Would be interesting to know why, distance from Henderson to Downtown Vegas which I guess that’s where most of the people drive to work?
ERIN says
HENDERSON IS THE NICEST SAFEST PLACE TO LIVE IN VEGAS. (I’VE BEEN HERE 18 YEARS, LIVING IN ALL AREAS) I DON’T LIKE OR LIVE NEAR HENDERSON BECAUSE IT IS CLOSE TO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IN MY LIFE. SUMMERLIN IS THE NEXT BEST. I AM SPECIFICALLY NEAR RED ROCK. ANYWHERE NEAR DOWNTOWN, THE STRIP AND CENTRAL LAS VEGAS IS NO BUENO! IF YOU CAN AFFORD SUMMERLIN I’D GO THERE.
VSAloha says
thank you for replying, do you know what is the average rent? i searching on apps like Zillow etc for places and see amout at $700 im thinking its far from alot of business and cost at $1200 is closer to businesses? Also, what is your opinion about North Las Vegas?
Craig says
North Las Vegas has a very bad reputation, lots of crime. Average rent in Henderson is around $1100 with condos being lower and houses being higher.
Sherry says
I have 2 unit for rent in hendrson great complex
VSAloha808 says
Hi Sherry, I am working on traveling to Vegas in early 2017. Are you units posted on Zilllow.com, etc. what is monthly rent and what does it include, water, sewer, trash, etc. I have not been to Vegas over 10 years, so I will be checking all the areas that everyone has mentioned as well as checking out businesses that I may be interested in applying for jobs when that time comes, so I have an idea where everything is. Thank you!
DanielleDaniDanielle says
Sherry do u still have places for rent?? We r moving very soon and need a place PLEASE SAFE FOR LITTLEONE
Matt says
I have noticed that a lot of Hawaiians have moved to the 215/Eastern side of town. Also the Southwest side of Las Vegas is pretty nice. Check out Enterprise.
VSAloha808 says
Hi Matt, Enterprise??? that new news to me, I missed that location. I need to do research on that area too. Thank you!
Danielle says
VSAloha did u Ever get an answer if so could u help me PLEASE
VSAloha808 says
Hi Danielle, if you’re referring to Sherry of the 2 units she mentioned above, then No I did not get an answer. And all the feedback from everyone else, I now know to stay away from North Las Vegas and my cousin said the same thing too.. I have a iphone and I downloaded following 3 apps Zillow Rentals, Apartments, Trulia to do my apartment research. Zillow rentals are a bit expensive compared to the other 2 apps but depends what/where you’re searching.. My cousin lived in Vegas over 10 years and said to try SW, NW, Summerlin and Henderson. I had friends who just moved (this month-May) to Henderson or outside of Henderson (wherever that is) and other friend move in Summerlin (in March). SW and NW, good luck because I live on Oahu and we don’t use SW and NW, it’s either North Shore or Hawaii Kai if you ever been to Oahu, you’ll know what I mean. So if I could reach out to Vegas, I would slap my cousin’s head, but I know he was messing with me! 😎 The rentals I seen on the apps are cheap (less than $700), but noticed place is bit old (1999 or older) and/or small and lease is for a year. I don’t want to be locked in a one year contract if I don’t like the place and that’s based on couple apartments. There are cheaper nicer and bigger. I’m now doing research by zip codes it’s time consuming but so far my best choice is looking in Henderson like people on the trend has been mentioning. Oh, my friends who moved to Henderson have kids, so you may want to try there on 6 months lease?! Good luck!
Jo says
So where did you end up moving to? Did you find a job first before moving out of the 808
Raceponyman says
I’m looking into moving at S Durango Dr 89113. What do you think of this area.
Wilson says
I’m moving to mountains edge from Hawaii.. Is this a safe place to raise a family?
Matt says
Mountains Edge is a nice place to raise a family forsure. Area is still very new and the freeway is not too far when needing to get to other parts of town.
VSAloha808 says
Hi Wilson, what island you’re moving from? If you’re moving soon and decide to move to Mountain Edge or whatever you decide, can you provide feedback? Would appreciate very much! I will be doing research on Mountain Edge and Enterprise areas. Two areas that wasn’t on my list.
Josh says
moving to N. las vegas avawatz CT, 89032. It is just down the street from Swainston Middle School. Anyone know the are? want to make sure it’s safe for the family. Thanks.

Alex says
We are moving to Spring Valley across Tropicana from Spanish Trails next month from the bay area….any suggestions or tips……? The crime statistics vary in Spring Valley….any particular areas to stay clear of?
Thanks
Matt says
I pass by this area every week.. Very good area, in my opinion with almost everything you could need in a 6min drive or so. The strip is also just down Tropicana going east which takes about 20min. Crime does vary, as that area “Spring Valley” is very populated.
Jenny says
I moved from bay area too. Spanish Trails on Tropicana is a very good location. By the way, are you renting or buying a home? I am a realtor. If you need to find a homs, I can help you with that.
Thanks,
Jenny

Hi jenny
Shannon Woodworth says
Hi Jenny,
I am moving to Las Vegas to get away from the allergies and problems of the Midwest. I definitely am concerned about crime, but I also want to be nearby things as I do not drive.
Would you be interested in helping me find a rental of a 2 bedroom? I may some day try to buy, but I have some definite credit issues I need to work on. I am an independent contractor — so I want the 2 bedroom to have an office (and entertain as I already know I”ll have midwestern visitors from time to time…)
I appreciate any help you might be able to provide
Deborah says
We have lots of allergies here! Bad mistake to move here cuz of that
Karima says
I’m also moving to Las Vegas from the Bay Area and was looking for a safe area. I was looking in Summerlin or Spring Valley but will now look in the Southwest and Southeast areas also.
Mindi Roholt says
How is lake Mead are & why is rent cheap?
Willie says
Dear VSAloha,I moved to Spring Valley in December 2015 and the area is pretty nice. A 10 to 15 minute walk to Starbucks, Denny’s, Walgreen, 24 hour Health Club ect, also a new Big Beautiful Park and Bus route with 24 hour service. I live on Tropicana ave, West of Decatur, zip code 89103. You can rent a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom Condo in a Gated community from $760 to $900 and they are very modern with nice neighbors and the schools are nice and not far away.. No matter where you move you are going to run into people that are down on their luck. I don’t call them bums. Crime rate is not high but i have heard it’s high in North Las Vegas. Wish you well
VSAloha808 says
Hi Willie, thank you for your reply. Are you familiar with Green Valley or Summerlin areas? I was told to also check those areas? And any idea the area of where the Amazon Distribution office located such as is it near Henderson or Summerlin I guess I’m looking to know what direction to start my research.
Thank you!
Stacy says
Thank you for your insight! I didn’t see this before I asked my question on schools but this kind of gives me an idea where to start my search.
Willie says
I read that Amazon is opening a Distribution Center; Warehouse to bring 350 Jobs. in North Las Vegas, 3837 Bay Lake Trail. I did more research and there appear to be many Distribution centers around.Google Amazon Distribution centers in Las Vegas Nevada.
Willie says
For VSAloha808. I read a lot of people statement and they speak highly of Henderson because Henderson has had a PAST reputation of being safe. Personally i did a lot of research before Purchasing my Condo, that i love and the surrounding area. I don’t believe in Hype, i am more of a Realist and should know that there were 3 shootings and murders in Henderson this year compared to 0 in Spring Valley. Summerlin Gets A’s and B pluses for Education, Crime,Amenities, Employment, Livability, Housing but Summerlin get a F for Cost of Living. I also prefer more Diverse Area. My Realtor moved from Summerlin to Henderson but that was before the incidents in Henderson. I hope all this info helps you
mono says
Heard that the Henderson police were brutal and corrupt.
VSAloha808 says
Yes, Willie all the information you have provided along with everyone else’s information is very much helpful! Thank you very much! Now, I want/need to decide if I should fly out to Vegas this year or wait until 2017, or do both? If everyone’s information, I now need to see the places that you all have been mentioning. Also, I found some nice and cheap rentals, but yelp app reviews says a whole different story of few of the places I was very interested in visiting when I get up there. 8-(
Willie says
Hello VSALoha808,i am glad the information was helpful. If you need more info Please feel free to ask. I understand that No one wants to live in a bad area but i also would not want to be neighbors with a bunch of Stuffy Stuck up People with bad attitudes. Have a Wonderful weekend.
GW says
What about the Alliante communities? I visited the gated communities, but recently found that cops don’t respond to calls or break-ins as they receive active notifications of live intruders. Is this considered the norm in Vegas for a homeowner to expect? I don’t want to be one of us Desert Storm vets sitting at home watching TV, armed to the teeth, waiting on someone to dare to break-in to my house simply because I have stuff in it! My PTSD is bad…
Steve says
Aliante is in the City of North Las Vegas (a different city with a different police department). While Aliante is the nicer part of NLV, NLV as a whole (the city of NLV, not the northern area of Las Vegas) is not great. The biggest downside to Aliante is lack of freeway. You have to take the beltway all the way to US-95 or to I-15 or stick to surface streets to get anywhere.
Misty says
We moved to the Northern part of Las Vegas, near Aliante, and we found the area to be nice with wide roads and easy access to I-215 which takes us to shopping in North 5th St, Decatur, Durango, Summerlin. Easy access to I-95 as well to go the Strip. There are newer homes up here as well. We also checked out Summerlin, Henderson, Green Valley and Lake Las Vegas but the house we liked of the 35 we toured, we liked the house here in Northwest North Las Vegas the best.
Stacie says
Hey I’m looking at apartments directly across from the North Las Vegas Airport. I keep hearing it’s borderline or maybe even IN the ghetto. Is this true? 2881 North Rancho Dr
bill says
I lived on east hacienda in the 70’s across the street from Liberaces house i never had a problem neither did he as he told me.
Step says
Hi I’m using Airbnb on west foothill blv 89118 is this a safe area?
Holly says
It’s called mountains edge and NOT mountain view- yes a lot of home invasions there – but Vegas has a high property crime rate
S.S. says
Are referring to the 3 home invasions that happened years ago? Please tell me when the last ho,e invasion was. My elderly parents live there in Mountains edge, and I may move there too. Thanks
Misty says
We are about to retire and we looked at Ardiente (55+ active, resort lifestyle) in North Las Vegas and would like to hear from those who live in this area or who are also considering moving to it. Is it a safe place to live? Thanks!
Stacy says
I am wanting to move to Vegas within the next 18 months. I am hearing conflicting information on schools. Can anyone tell me where the best schools are? Does Clark County School District have schools of choice where parents can choose not to go to the school they are zoned for if it’s bad? I may not be able to afford to live in those areas but I would like a general area to look in. My son is autistic and super smart. Do they have magnet schools or STEM schools? He loves science and I would love to get him in a school that encourages his enthusiasm.
Ana says
I have researched so much on the schools it seems ive natrowed down to about 4 good schools in the entire district. I guess alot of the Education in vegas is really bad, im coming fro. Orange County CA and hearing how bad the schools are really depressed me. Anyway look into the treasury dept you may qualify for a grant if you want to put your child into a private school
Stacy Young says
Thanks for the reply! We are not dead set on the Vegas area, we are looking at other areas as well. I just know I am tired of California.
Sue says
I am also burned out on California and lived in Vegas back in the 90s and want to move back but a little scared reading about all the bad crime… I’m alone but want out of orange county!
Sue says
I’m moving from orange County ca..burned out on Cali people…live alone and hope to find safe apt to move to. Single female older
Stacy Young says
Do you live in Las Vegas? If so why do you stay since you don’t seem to have a positive thing to say about it. I am not saying we ARE moving there but I am looking for input. Where do parents want to send their children to school. Every school can’t be bad. Kids there have to go to school somewhere. And I am pretty sure every child graduating from the Clark County School District bbecomes a gang banger.
lakewrites says
Stay away from North Las Vegas. It’s a slum area; not a good place to live, nor work. Also, if jobs are offered or available, they are instantly filled. So many are out of work in Las Vegas.
Shades of “The Grapes of Wrath,” exist in Las Vegas, luring people with promises of employment, when few exist. Permanent hiring signage is a mainstay in most businesses, which wastes your time in applying. Secure a job prior to moving. Foreign workers are first hired in most corporations, as the government subsidizes corps., to hire foreign. Your tax dollars pay to displace American workers.
Good luck with the search…avoid the enticing propaganda!
Ron says
If your stupid. Youll love las vegas. I don’t care where you are it’s bad. Please Google las vegas crime. Before you consider moving. There are no good areas. You can buy a 450k home and right next door some a hole from China will own a rental and a Mexican gang will live there. There is no segregation in vegas. Only bad and worse. Police response time is 2 hrs. Homes still way over priced. Ppl are very RUDE. Unless your a gambling addict go find another city. … don’t belive me ? Remember this in 2 yrs when your moving away.
Stacy Young says
WOW! Again I ask, do you live in Vegas? If it is so terrible and unsafe why continue to live there? Everything is relative. I live in Lancaster, CA. I called the police for my neighbors fighting and sounding like it was getting violent. It took them 7 hours to show up. 7. So I will take 2 hours. Our schools are pretty crappy, we have polution, nasty water, and high crime. I am fairly involved in our community and I am definitely an involved parent. I think life and wherever you call home are what you make it. If we end up moving to the Vegas area I will be making an informed decision and we will make the best of it while we are there, be it 2 years or 20.
S.S. says
Move to Mountain’s Edge next to Exploration Park, area of Buffalo and Blue Diamond. Safe. If afford, can put children in Bishop Gorman school. If not, still prob better schools in this district than in Lancaster. My parents live there, I travel there many times year, beautiful, safe, and we may move there in a yr or two. A brand new shopping plaza called Mountains edge Marketplace is being built…. you tube it.
Willie says
I respect your opinion but i have not encountered any of these problems and i am aware that there are bad people and neighbors almost anywhere you live. I live in a Condo in a Gated Community and i have not run into any Rude people. I prefer a Non Segregated Communities, that way that way we get to know each other In my opinion, people that prefer to live in Segregated Communities usually have a Stereotypical opinion of different race of people. Fortunately i have had No need to call the Police and i Love the Scenery and i walk around day and night.
Mable says
LOL…….if you go you need a fortress to live in so you can stay safe. Leaving CA and headed to the Mandarin Oriental or the Turnberry Towers…….I would never live in Vegas without paid guards and lots of fences and cameras. Maybe a golf course home if you’re comfortable carrying a firearm since police response time seems lacking in urgency due to understaffing and over utilization. CA makes Tucson AZ seem like a good idea with its taxes.

Hi, ALL:
I am planning to buy a 2-bedroom condo in Las Vegas for vacation home and also in preparation if case my kids want to go to UNLV for college.
We are not crowd people, we also don’t gamble or drink (basically, we are boring). Which are you recommend for easy commute to UNLV, safe and also have easy access to nature?
Many thanks!

Good evening. I read your comments and i purchased a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom 1063 square ft, condo that also come at 1183 square ft. in a gated Community at 5155 W Tropicana and it is about 4 miles from UNLV.I am also not a drinker and very seldom gamble but i would not call myself boring because i have a good personality and a Great sense of humor. I would rather be boring than a Loud Mouth Drunk or Idiot.Smile. I wish you well on your Journey.

I am moving to Las Vegas and will be employed within the 89086 zip code which I believe is North Las Vegas. I know at times people can over exaggerate when describing something or a situation. My question is, is the entire city of North Las Vegas as bad as people portray it to be? Also, I am thinking of renting an apartment for a few months in the 89086 zip code, would this be smart. It looks really brand new, but I do know that isn’t always a great sign
jeff says

Bret says
89086 is a great area. I have lived near there for 14 years. Aliante is very nice. Nice people, lots of parks.
WILLIE SUTTON says
I have been to North Las Vegas since i moved to Vegas in December 2015. I have noticed the people that never visited the area have more of a Exaggerated opinion than what i observed. I met a lot of nice people while i was out in about. I suggest you enjoy your new job and your new place and hopefully your new place is close to work. I prefer not to live around people that don’t care about their surroundings nor do i care to live around snobbish uppity acting people. I prefer friendly polite and considerate.
Mark says
This is my opinion and is not in direct response to all, but a fair majority.
I have lived in Las Vegas for over 32 years, I am 35 now. Almost all who talk bad about North Las Vegas or anything North of Vegas usually has lived here less than 12 years never seeing the area. It isn’t until they get tired of the hustle and bustle of the city they move farther North usually after being here over 15 years. I have worked all throughout Southern Nevada for 16 years. There is crime all over Vegas and it has gotten worse with the increase of population. With that said, Summerlin are mainly renters who have no appreciation of community or involvment. If you love vanity, drugs, social media, and the Hollywood life, this place is for you. Summerlin no crime? Ask yourself why is there an entire neighborhood with for sale signs. Over 60% rent not own. Although, those who originally lived there for almost 20 years are some of the nicest people and aren’t influenced by all the glamour. Unfortunately high crime rates are forcing them out. Southwest is the new ghetto including the Mountains Edge area. Don’t believe me, ask someone who is from Vegas and supports Vegas. Not a resident trying to maintain a good reputation who’s lived here less than 10 years, never been to that area, but seems to know more than a Las Vegas native or resident. Better yet, just watch the news. Central South Las Vegas and Southeast which is considered Henderson, a much better choice. Still has crime, but much less than the popular West-Southwest Las Vegas. East Vegas whether it be North, especially central, and South are the worst of Vegas. Every Native knows this, even the ones that live there won’t shy to tell you the truth (not Henderson East only Vegas East). North Las Vegas example the Aliante area quiet, respectful, and more importantly family oriented. North is definitely pro guns. Providence beautiful area, many are divorced. There are some bad neighborhoods outside of Providence. Northwest areas get worse as you get closer to borderline Summerlin. Go to Crime Mapping and compare the better areas of what people say, let that be your decision. Walk the trails of Summerlin, Mountains Edge, Providence, Southern Highlands, and Aliante at 10pm. Decide where you feel the safest. Summerlin residents have told me they feel unsafe once it gets dark. You’ll see many exercising in the late night hours of Aliante including myself at 11pm. North Las Vegas is a great place to live so long as it’s not central North Las Vegas. When crime happens in central Vegas, they say central Vegas. When crime happens in “central” North Las Vegas that can be 20 miles away from Aliante, they say North Las Vegas. See my point. If you love a social life with friends, and/or parties, gambling, and drinking. The best choice may be closer to the strip which would more than likely be Southwest or Summerlin. If your tired of the city and love more family time, bigger houses, bigger yards, great neighbors (whom we talk to and closes our garage when we leave them open), as well as people who use their turn signals. Then Aliante is for you.
Kudos Willie Sutton for living in North Las Vegas a short time and seeing the true values of life and our community. Hope all who move here have the same quality values and morals as yourself… And hopefully uses their turn signals lol.
WILLIE SUTTON says
I always use my turn signals. lol…I live on Tropicana near just West of Decatur across from the New Park. After a year it still appears to be a nice area, not perfect but nice, Spring Valley and Thanks.
Mark says
Great to hear you use your turn signals lol. Spring Valley, Enterprise, Sienna, Southwest Vegas in general a very attractive, very beautiful area. Meant no disrespect for the Southwest community. It’s just very sad to see the Southwest’s popularity is attracting more of the bad crowd. Crime has definitely gone up. My family has moved from one neighborhood that became really bad, to another that’s getting bad. Both were in the Southwest about 10 miles apart. They truly love the Southwest, but are not happy with their new neighborhood. For that reason they are considering other areas. I’m sure it’s just a matter of time for any neighborhood to go bad, some just faster than others. Good and bad parts of Vegas, either way I still love Vegas including the Eastside where I grew up. All you can hope for are great neighbors that keep the community safe and beautiful… And thank you as well.

Mark, is it because of gangs? I’ve read that gangs are getting bad out in Vegas. I want to move out there soon but I’m not getting any feedback and the real estate brokers do not help. Are you safer in the guard gated communities or it’s just a lost cause? I’m considering either a place in one of the highrises on the strip (guarded) or Henderson or Summerlin?

How do you feel about Silverado ranch? I haven’t heard many people talk about Silverado ranch. We’re looking into a 4 bedroom home there.
S.S. says
Mountains edge is not the new ghetto! I have a house there, my parents have lived there 10 yrs, I do crimemapping and have emails every day showing the crimes. There is no crime! Each day in the entire Mountains edge/Enterprise area there are maybe two burglaries, and one domestic disturbance. That’s IT.
There are more brand new gorgeous, HUGE parks in Mountains edge than any other master planned community. There is a callender filled with activities and festivals for Mountains edge homeowners every month, real community. The newer water park close by, a new hospital, the new Mountains Edge Marketplace going in……. I can go on and on.
It is fine to pump in your side of town, but stop bad mouthing other communities when you have no idea what you are talking about.

I am thinking of moving to Nevada from New Jersey but I’ve never been there and have no idea where to move to…i find the most homes for rent online in las Vegas and a few in Henderson but it speaks volumes about an area if there are a lot of places for rent so I think I’ll skip Vegas but is anyone familiar with Carson city? Is it bad and would I need a car there ?

I will be moving to Las Vegas in January 2017 to enroll at UNLV. Returning as an adult learner who has been working professionally the last six years. I am very much willing to commute to campus, as my course load will be light my first semester. As someone who doesn’t need the thrills of nightlife I was hoping for some suggestions or guidance on areas to consider. Summerlin and Henderson stand out, but looking for insider thoughts on some nice areas. Ideally looking for a one bedroom in the range of $800-$900. Thank you!

4900 River Glen Drive or 5155 W. Tropicana are nice gated communities not far from the school.

Heading to Vegas in 2017, any info about the Alicante area? 89031 I think is the zip
James M. says
I saw some nice homes in the guard gated Ardiente 55+ community in the 89081 zip code. Is that a nice area?
Misty says
Yes, it is a very nice area and residents are friendly. It’s an active resort style community with a clubhouse for activities, gym, swimming pools, tennis courts, bocce, basketball courts, putting green and small parks. Only 3 new houses left and a few resales.
James M. says
Thanks, Misty. There are a few comments about North Las Vegas being a bad area. Isn’t 89081 Ardiente in North Las Vegas? I saw the homes on the Shea website and they look very nice.

I’m looking to buy in the Las Vegas Country Club and they have a guard and it’s gated. Is there still a problem in that area?
Candace says
I will be moving to the Enterprise area, and I was wondering if it’s safe? I’m concerned because I’ve heard that Las Vegas crime is on the rise, and I’m a single female with a toy dog. I noticed that Rainbow Blvd by my apartments headed east has a lot more crime.
Morgan says
We are moving from Minnesota to the estates at westnaire. Is that a good area? Over on Nellis Blvd.
James M. says
Any feedback on the Cadence community in Henderson? I like the homes in the 55+ guard gated community Heritage at Cadence.

Hello all. My family is moving to the Las Vegas area in a couple of months. We are looking for an area that is clean, not ghetto/dirty (my wife has a really bad phobia of bugs), with little crime that is a reasonable distance (5-10 minutes) to major highways and driving distance to stores. I was looking at a couple of areas online that seem priced a little too good to be good – like on Comet Avenue in the 89030 zip or the Joshua Hills Condos in North Las Vegas. Is anyone familiar with these areas?? Thanks.

Is NELLIS OASIS LN , LAS VEGAS, CLARK COUNTY safe to live? I’m thinking of moving there next yr.

I’ve asked real estate brokers about this building and what’s surrounding but they have never answered me. There is a large blue stone high rise on Desert Road that I am interested in and there are some smaller buildings on the right side. I’ve asked what building they were because I want to make sure they are not projects. Can someone help that’s familiar with that area?
Ann says
We are considering moving to a new 55+ retirement community in Summerlin, NV
A realtor I spoke with is pushing Henderson. Not sure why. Am I reading the livability figures wrong and Henderson is “really” the place to me to. We are not interested in the Casinos, for gambling but being driving distance to see a show is appealing. How safe is Summerlin?
Brenda says
Is this area 89143 safe and how are the s hooks here?
Ann m says
I am moving to vegas soon my cousin said do not go north vegas. In reading all the various opinions I’m really starting to wonder are there jobs where is it really safe and moving to Henderson or summerlin prices must be sky high because they have reputation of being safer.
